Friday the 13th Quick Takes

Scott spent three days out of town this week, getting back just before midnight last night. I was so busy getting different kids to different places at the same time that I can’t think in anything more than lists today. Here are a few things that have caught my eye this week, in between loads of laundry, running errands, and washing dishes (boy do I miss my husband’s dish-washing skills when he’s gone!).

This video. It’s short but it really hits home. I can’t believe this is still happening, and I want to know what we can do to stop it. (RSS and email readers, you may need to click over to my blog to view.)

Biggest laugh this week: How to Get Likes on Facebook by the Oatmeal. Which one is your favorite? I can’t decide on mine.

(Is it ironic or just plain tacky to point out that this blog has a Facebook page here?)

Inspiration for women who don’t fit the mold: my friend Meg’s post for Ed Cyzewski’s Women in Ministry series, “Sometimes I Think God Made Me Wrong.”

Food for [theological] thought: “Ask a Pentecostal” on Rachel Held Evans’ blog. Jonathan Martin responded with grace, wisdom, and care to many questions about this often-misunderstood part of the Church.

From my Instagram feed: I got into this project before realizing I’d have to take the back tire and the chain off in order to replace the inner tube. But I dug deep into my memory banks for the time my dad and I rehabbed my bike, and I fixed it. Booyah!

One of mine: “This One’s for You This Easter” for Deeper Story (and for anyone hurting in church or hurt by the church).

A couple of prayer requests: my friend Sara and her little ones, and my friends Doug and Heather – Doug fell 22 feet onto a cement floor yesterday, breaking most of the bones in his face, knocking out many teeth, and breaking both wrists. They live in Chile with their four children. He had the first of many surgeries last night.
